Tony Hallam This is a brief introduction and tutorial to the SEGY-SAK library which leverages the segyio and xarray libraries to make using SEG-Y data in Python easier and more intuitive. You can learn more about SEGY-SAK here: segysak.readthedocs.io/ During the tutorial we will cover: - Introduction to the library, including installation via pip and documentation. - Where SEGY-SAK might be useful in your SEG-Y workflows. - Basic functionality of SEGY-SAK including, examining, scanning, loading, modifying and saving of SEG-Y data. - In memory manipulation of SEG-Y using the xarray library for easier data selection and manipulation. - Horizon attribute extraction using xarray. - Applying dimension based functions to xarray volumes. - Vectorising seismic data for machine learning. **Joining Instructions:** This tutorial is designed for intermediate users of Python. A follow along notebook (with tutorial data) and a conda environment yml with cloning and installation instructions is available from the tutorial Github repository (https://github.com/trhallam/segysak-t21-tutorial). Please ensure you have cloned the Github repository, setup the conda enviornment and started the notebook before we begin the tutorial. **Help:** If there are any questions prior to the tutorial please raise them in the SEGY-SAK slack channel on Swung https://swung.slack.com/messages/segysak/ 00:00 - Start 03:45 - Introduction and Tutorial Setup 15:30 - Core Library Functionality 40:10 - Xarray Basics 58:30 - NetCDF File Format 1:12:37 - Horizon Attribute Extraction 1:29:40 - Mapping Function over blocks - Horizon Flattening 1:47:31 - Vectorization of Seismic Data 1:54:00 - Questions / FAQ
