Underdog

Two Arizona teachers started an underwater robotics team. The team would build a robot. They would enter it in a contest. Most students who entered the contest went to college. Some attended expensive schools, like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). By contrast, the teachers taught at a high school. Most of their students were poor. Only four students signed up for the team. The boys knew little about robotics. But one team member quickly became the leader of the group. Another was intrigued by the chance to use tools. The team worked hard to build their robot. But they did not think they would win the contest. Their teachers saw the contest as an exploratory experience for the boys. But at the contest, something phenomenal happened. The team's robot performed well. However, MIT's robot did not. The high school team kept accumulating winning moments. Finally, the awards were announced. MIT came in second. The high school team came in first! Their achievement inspired students back home. Now, dozens of students line up for robotics club.
