This whiteboard animation belongs to a series of 15 topic areas designed to help students (and managers) better prepare for their next job placement (internship / job rotation / during university coursework). They provide a novel take on how to be successful during your new job assignment (and/or during university coursework), especially when you find yourself in a situation where you are required to deal with complex unsolved problems, issues and challenges. The 15 topics are designed to provide you with a more holistic take and go beyond traditional and conventional pre-training. Taken together, they will enable you to learn BETTER, learn FASTER and learn MORE than you are used to. Each of the main topics covered provides you with (1) a brief background to set the scene; (2) what the topic is about; (3) three examples illustrating how to use the topic; (4) why it is important; (5) a brief “homework” exercise for you to apply. The topics range from: 1. What is “Staying F.O.C.U.S.E.D.” framework? 2. Develop a complicated understanding 3. Using metaphors to make the unfamiliar familiar 4. Re-framing and the importance problem-setting using positive “re” words 5. Situation awareness (making sense of context) 6. Current taken-for-granted assumptions 7. Integrative thinking 8. Reflective practice 9. Persuasive skills 10. Critical incidents 11. Improvising skills 12. Relevate: make the irrelevant relevant 13. Evidence-based management 14. The value of “good” theory and research These whiteboard animations are part of a $HK9.7M FOCUSED Project and generously funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) of the Hong Kong Government. © FOCUSED Project, All rights reserved Supervised by July Rongjiao ZHU, Directed by Bobo Ho Yan TO, Produced by Moria Lanlan ZHANG and Heidi Hoi Yi FOO Royalty Free Music from Bensound, Music: https://www.bensound.com/
