NEW MONTH NEW DRUM COVER! This month's cover is VULCAN WORLDS written by STANLEY CLARK and performed by CHICK COREA & RETURN TO FOREVER from their 1974 album WHERE HAVE I KNOWN YOU BEFORE. I remember seeing RTF perform this song in front of a live studio audience on the PBS series SOUNDSTAGE. There are several videos of that performance on YouTube if you want to look them up. That program changed my life & my drumming. I used to play this song with the Illinois Central College Jazz Combo back in 1974-76. I felt good that I could still perform this number without a significant decline in proficiency. At 140 bpm & just under 8 minutes in length, Vulcan Worlds is a challenge both in terms of its complexity & the endurance needed to keep up, at any age.
