Segment Register Segement Register holds the upper 16 bits of the starting address of each of the segments There are four segments used in 8086, code segment, data segment, stack segment and extra segment. Segment registers are used to contain the base addresses of the above mentioned segments. They are 16 bit registers. Physical Address Generation 1) Address of a segment is of 20-bits 2) A segment register stores only upper 16-bits. 3) BIU always inserts zero for the lowest 4-bits of the 20-bit starting address. E.g if CS=348AH, then the code segment will start at 348A0H 4) A 64-KB segment can be located anywhere in the memory, but will start at an address with zeros in the lowest 4-bits. 5) Instruction Pointer holds 16-bits offset address, of the next instruction byte in the code segment. 6) BIU uses IP and CS register to generated the 20-bit address of the instruction to be fetched from memory. #OnlineLectures #EducationForFree #FullHD #HappyLearning #Engineering Thanks For Supporting Us Website - http://ekeeda.com Parent Channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/ekeeda Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/ekeeda.video Twitter - https://twitter.com/Ekeeda_Official Blogger - http://ekeeda.blogspot.in Pinterest - https://in.pinterest.com/ekeedavideo Digg - http://digg.com/u/ekeeda_Video Tumbler - https://www.tumblr.com/blog/ekeedavideo Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/user/ekeeda_Video LinkedIn- https://www.linkedin.com/in/ekeeda-video-4a5b83124 Happy Learning : ) -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "19 Problem 6 on SFD and BMD for the beam as shown in figure" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQTRebqlvMw -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
