2v1 in touch
A skill zone to be able to execute a 2v1 in Touch - where the defender only has to get a finger to the attacker. This is under-estimated how difficult this can be within Touch Rugby. Firstly - focusing on the attack 1. Run to score 2. Don't stop to pass - keep moving 3. Supporting player has depth to run onto the ball 4. Timing and communication are key Then the defence: - You can control as the defender, or get a player to defend 1. You give cues away by where you are laterally, or your body shape (facing in or out) 2. You must be close enough to the attacker, but you don't need to be opposite them - you can be within reaching distance - allowing you to try and 'release' to the second attacker. 3. 1st priority is the ball carrier 4. 2nd priority is releasing to the 2nd attacker PROGRESSION 1. Big space - lots of time 2. Make the space smaller if there are lots of scores 3. continuous 2v1 (like an Auckland grid)
