AHJU is a DJ, producer and tastemaker who is heavily influenced by the sound of 90’s rave music. With a special affinity for rolling breaks, euphoric piano stabs and dirty basslines, AHJU knows how to get a party started. Fusing the likes of original old school hardcore with new age breakbeat music, AHJU brings a high octane blend of dance music that is forward thinking while still paying homage to the roots of rave music. Residing in Gadigal Land of the Eora Nation (aka Sydney), she has been making big waves across the club, warehouse and illegal rave scenes - supporting artists such as Stones Taro, Overmono, Mall Grab, Job Jobs and many more. Some words from AHJU about her mix here: “In terms of selection, I wanted to combine a blend of different breaks - from Breakbeat, Florida Breaks and Jungle, to Hardcore and Liquid DNB. I really like the old school sound, where things are a little rough and raw but still melodic and soulful. With mixing, I enjoy sampling using the cue button and loops, fast cut in and outs and adding effects, which I like doing on a pioneer mixer due it its faders and built-in effects.
