Behind the Mask
On the outside cheerful, on the outside funny, you put on your mask and showed it to the world. where no one ever sees, where your black thoughts surround you from all sides, you are alone there. You carry such a hollow space, though you hold a thousand feelings. You cannot let them out, you cannot share them. Though you want to, they press you down, they suffocate, they break you. You want her so badly, you need her so much. But she keeps passing you by, she belongs to someone else. Your eyes are full of sorrowful tears, they keep running beneath the red sky. And she keeps passing you by, and she is always for others. A broken tree, and on it a rope, white crows still cry out there. They can tell you so little, as if fate went silent, as if it died. You remain alone in silence, among thoughts as heavy as night, and only the echo of questions keeps coming back to you. Why is that lady, why is she so unfaithful? Why is she so hard to find, so hard to hold? Has this world become nothing but hatred, must the world be this cruel? Why are good feelings still so rare, why does love feel so short? Love, oh love, at last find me, take me where I want to be. Take me there, to dream beside her, to finally drop the mask and live. And she keeps passing you by, and she is always for others, but if you come today, maybe you'll find me too. Love… find me…
