Designed by James McConnell for the Southern Division of the London & North Western Railway - the self-proclaimed 'Premier Line' - in 1851, the "Bloomer" class locomotive proved to be fast, reliable and long-lived with the last one being scrapped in 1888. Yet, there are hopes for a re-birth with a much-anticipated new build Bloomer finally coming together near Birmingham.
