In this video estimation of percentage of halogen in an organic compound has been discussed in detail along with problems and their solutions. In this method, a weighed amount of halogen containing compound is heated with AgNO3 and fuming HNO3 that gives silver halide. The silver halide is washed, dried and weighed. From the weight of silver halide the percentage of halogen is calculated.
