Acting Minister for Commerce, Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, has raised concerns over newly introduced management fees and copra pricing announced by the Commodities Export Marketing Authority (CEMA). The new fees were recently outlined in the gazetted Coconut and Cocoa Management Fee Regulations 2026, which set a management fee of $3.05 per kilogram, reducing farmers’ returns to $2.95 per kilogram from the market price of $6.00. Responding to questions from the media at a press conference yesterday, Sogavare says discussions will be held with relevant authorities and the nation will be informed of the steps to be taken. #SIBC News
