Another way to analyze data in Google Sheets is to display the data in a chart or graph. A pie chart is a type of graph in which a circle is divided into sections that each represent a portion of the whole. The size of each slice is proportional to the quantity it represents. Pie charts can be used to display statistics, determine the popularity of products, and more. Column charts display vertical bars going across the chart, with the y-axis being displayed on the left side of the chart. Column charts are used for comparing two or more values, such as profit analysis, sales projections, and expenditures. Bar charts are similar, except that they present data horizontally. A line chart is one of the most frequently used graph types, and is typically used to show trends over a period of time. Line charts display information as a series of data points called “markers,” which are connected by straight line segments. This video was created in relation to the Utah State CTE standards for the Business Office Specialist High School course. Specifically, this video prepares students to complete Strand 2, Standard 5: Create and edit charts/graphs within a worksheet.
