Unusually large driving wheels: Part 3.
One of the least orthodox designs of the nineteenth century, but also one of the most succesful: the Crampton. Designed by Thomas Russell Crampton of Britain, the Crampton became hugely popular in Belgium, France, Germany and examples were even run in Denmark and the United States. Happily, one of these dinosaurs still exists, Le Continent at the Cite du Train, the French National Railway Museum.
