Flat Portraits
Hi everybody! Today, we will continue our portrait series, but in a different approach of what did last week: This time, we will keep our portraits simple and flat. The concept is very simple: we'll create basic shapes and fill them in using just three colours (four at most) against a deep-coloured background. My goal is to leave them looking intentionally unfinished, as if they are works in progress. We are going to use a 50x 70 cm coloured paper, it is 320 GSM, so it’s very thick, but you can get similar result with a less dense paper, but no less than 220 GSM. I know this style may not be for everyone, but I hope it inspires you to create your own pieces. The most important thing is to keep on practicing and experimenting. Even if you’ve never tried this technique before, I encourage you to give it a shot —you might surprise yourself. As always, keep on practicing and thank you for joining us! 00:00 Intro 00:15 Concept and Sketches 01:14 Woman in a red turban 02:58 Lady in a oversized jumper 05:58 Woman with a red rose 06:58 Woman in a counter 08:49 Results 09:09 Outro
