The FlexiMidge is a great midge pattern and simply a box filler. It ties up super quick, and it will hunt out on the water. Begin with a small sized scud hook (size 20 in this video) in your vise with a Killer Caddis glass bead at the front - here I'm using their peacock color glass bead. The body is the elastic LifeFlex in olive. Secure the LifeFlex behind the bead, and stretch the material as you secure it down deep into the hook bend. Stretching it will help you maintain the thin body you'll want in a midge pattern. As you start wrapping the LifeFlex up the hook shank towards the bead, pull it tightly, so your first wraps are pretty thin. Loosen the tension of the elastic material as you move up the hook towards the bead. This will increase the size of the material, giving you a nice, tapered abdomen with larger ribbing moving forward. Once behind the bead, secure the LifeFlex. Stretch the material pretty good as you cut it off, and it will suck down into your thread wraps. Whip finish and the fly is complete. You can change the pattern up by simply changing the color of the LifeFlex material.
