Foundation Chain
Now that you know how to attach the yarn to your hook by using a Slip Knot, its time to practice our Foundation Chains. This can be frustrating at first, but trust me, dont give up! It will click and be second nature. Foundation Chains are basically that, the foundation of your crochet project. All projects start with a certain number of chains that you will work different stitches into for the first row. The foundation chain majority of the time only at the beginning of your project and thats it. Projects may ask you to make a chain but that is not part of your foundation chain, it would be considered a chain within your pattern. Next up is Anatomy of a stitch, where I show you the fundamentals of a stitch and its components so you know whats what if a pattern asks for something like "Single Crochet Back Loop Only" (SC BLO) After that were going to drive right into the basic stitches! The holy grail of crochet. If you can get these stitches down, everything else in crochet is based around those main stitches!
