We all adored them, but they are not long-term birds. It's going to be a hot minute before we get turkeys again.
A small word of advice, make them friendly, but not lap-bird friendly... they get big, and when they want to cuddle in your lap you'll need armor.
Yes, Dot & Porch Bird's tail feathers were a total wreck... silly birds would put their tail tips in the night poo every morning getting off the roosting bails.
