Hebrews Study 3 Key Verse Hebrews 12:2 Looking onto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who, for the joy that was sat down before him endured the cross, despising the shame, sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Personal commitment: Read a chapter each day from Leviticus and Hebrews Chapter 1 Verse 5a (Read Psalm 2 and highlight verse 7) Verse 5b (Read 2 Samuel 7:14) Note: these two previous scripture are the only places in the Old Testament that refers to God as Father and God as His Son relationship! Verse 6a the first born into the world- this is a reference to Jesus’ Incarnation as Emmanuel-God with us-John 1:1-14 &Luke 2:8-16 Verse 6b Also “let all of the Angels worship Him (Read Job 38:7 & Luke 2:13-14) Verse 7a (Read Psalm 104:4) Who makes His “winds” Hebrew is Ruach and translated to Greek Pnuema which means spirit, breath, wind, spirit of man and as Angels. 7b His ministers “flames the Greek is phloga and means a blaze of “fire” Greek is pyro where the word pyromaniac is derived and means the heat of the sun and like lightning. Isaiah 6 Seraphim means fiery serpents Quick overview of Angelic categories: Messenger Angels-Hagar in Genesis 16:11, Mary Luke 1:26-38, Luke 1:11-20 to Zechariah and Elizabeth in Luke 1:5-25 & to John in Revelation 4:6-8 Cherubim-Genesis 3:24, Exodus 25:18-22, God mounting them in 2 Samuel 22:11 & Psalm 18:10 (Isaiah 14:12-17 mentions Satan/Lucifers notes his arrogance of the five, “I will’s” and desiring to elevate Himself to equality to God- Also in Ezekiel 28:12-19 describes Satans heavenly position and the coverings of Stones which referenced being, possibly, a High Priestly Ephod) Seraphim- Hebrew word is Seraph which means fiery serpents-Isaiah 6:2-7, Numbers 21:6-8 and Deuteronomy 8:15. which also have six wings And are constantly worshiping God Ophanim/ Ezekiel 1:15-21 & Chapter 10 and also Revelation 4:6-8. The Hebrew word “Oph” in Hebrews means a wheel and also considered the chariots of God Read 2 Kings 2:11-12 Arch Angels-Michael is the only one mentioned by name in our canonized Bibles-Daniel 10:13 states that Michael is one of the Prices or Chiefs, this comes from the Hebrew word “Sar” and is translated into Greek as “Arch” where we get Arch Angel, Jude 1:9 & Revelation 12:7 Blessing to you all and May the God of peace,who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, that is, Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.
