Archery Training: This training session's theme is Posture. While the first Hollow Back video goes into detail about Core Alignment, this video guides you through a 45 minute AMRAP circuit designed to give you ample time to apply the intensity control needed to maintain proper Core Alignment throughout the shot. Within the 45min AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) are two new activities, Dirty Laundry and Richter Scale, specifically designed to provide you with immediate, in-the-moment feedback so you can asses your performance. Have fun with this workout! Hollow Back is characterized by a lifting of the chest and arching of the lumbar spine at any point during the shot cycle. Aligning the core, the pelvis and torso, is crucial to preventing a Hollow Back. Core alignment is therefore essential in having a powerful, consistent shot and to achieving Holding. The athlete is likely not going to be able to find Holding mentally if they are not comfortable and truly aligned in the shot. In addition, loss of back tension, high draw-side elbow, and poor string clearance can be just a few of the consequences of a Hollow Back. While elements of posture include positioning of the appendages (legs, arms, head) this video focuses primarily on Core Alignment (pelvis and torso) for the purpose of preventing or eliminating Hollow Back. Although a graphic of Open Stance is provided for clarity, this session was designed with the assumption that viewers are proficient at establishing a consistent Open Stance. Train ugly. Keep going.
