HORSE STANCE
The bodyweight horse stance is a foundational lower body position used to build strength, stability, and postural control through the hips and legs. Holding a wide stance with the hips lowered and torso upright challenges your ability to create tension while staying organized under fatigue. While it looks simple, the horse stance quickly exposes weaknesses in positioning, endurance, and control. The goal isn’t just to “sit low”—it’s to maintain structure, breathing, and tension throughout the hold. What this builds: Lower body endurance and stability Hip mobility and positional awareness Postural control under tension Mental focus and tolerance for sustained effort Use this as part of warm-ups, movement practice, conditioning finishers, or standalone positional work. It pairs well with mobility training and can help reinforce better lower body positioning for squats, hinges, and athletic movement. Don’t chase depth at the expense of position. Own the stance you can control and build from there.
