Saiga-12K is a semi-automatic shotgun designed by the Kalashnikov Concern (formerly known as Izhmash) The Saiga-12 series was designed in the 1990s and first produced in 1997. It was named after the Saiga antelope, native to Russia. Saiga-12K is patterned after the Kalashnikov series of rifles, featuring a gas-operated, rotating bolt system similar to the AK-47. Available in 12-gauge, 20-gauge, and .410 bore. It can use 2, 5, 8, and 10 round detachable box magazines, as well as 12, 20, or 30 round detachable drum magazines. Weight around 3.5 kg (7.7 lb). In 2014, the United States imposed economic sanctions on the Kalashnikov Concern due to the geopolitical situation in Ukraine and Crimea, affecting the import of Saiga-12K shotguns. Despite these challenges, the Saiga-12K continues to be produced and remains popular among firearm enthusiasts
