“I Am Responsible” is a cry of conscience, a spiritual confession, and a call to awaken the sleeping heart of humanity. It speaks from the soul of one who stands before God and admits that human suffering is never someone else’s burden alone. Every child lost to war, every mother broken by grief, every hungry soul forgotten behind the walls of abundance—these wounds belong to all of us. The song reminds us that God entrusted humanity not merely with life, but with the mind: the sacred power to think, to feel, to love, and to act with mercy. Yet despite this divine gift, we have allowed silence to replace truth, indifference to replace compassion, and borders to divide what was meant to be one human family. It asks a painful question: how could we reach the moon, yet fail to carry bread to the starving? The tragedy was never lack of power—it was lack of love. “I Am Responsible” transforms guilt into purpose. It teaches that responsibility is not shame, but the beginning of redemption. To love, to speak, to feed, to protect—this is the sacred duty of every human soul. Verse 1. Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:32) Transliteration Min ajli dhālika katabnā ‘alā banī isrā’īla annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsin aw fasādin fil-arḍi faka’annamā qatala an-nāsa jamī‘ā, wa man aḥyāhā faka’annamā aḥyā an-nāsa jamī‘ā. English Translation Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul—unless for a soul or for corruption in the land—it is as if he had killed all mankind; and whoever saves one life, it is as if he had saved all mankind. Title: I Am Responsible I am responsible, my Lord— I whisper it where silence pours, between the stars, through hidden scars, where sorrow waits behind closed doors. For children crying under fire, for mothers searching dust and flame, for fathers holding shattered stones, for nameless graves without a name. You gave me mind— that sacred spark, a lantern brighter than the skies. You clothed me first in thought and mercy, yet still I turned away my eyes. I watched the earth bleed in silence. I heard the thunder, stayed the same. You gave me voice to shield the voiceless, yet I let silence speak my shame. I am responsible — I carry every cry, Beneath the wounded earth, beneath the burning sky. For every soul in sorrow, for every tear untold, I bear the weight of love more precious far than gold. I am responsible — let silence break tonight, Let mercy rise like dawn and turn our dark to light. For every child of dust, for every heart destroyed, My Lord, through love alone, let every void be healed. The rivers remember blood The skies remember ash and flame. The soil remembers innocence history forgot to write by name. How many hearts were lost in war? How many dreams were crushed by pride? How many children learned their fear before they learned that love could guide? Cities of prayer became ruins, homes of bread became open rain. While polished halls debated justice, the poor were buried under pain. Not because I dropped the fire, not because I marched command— but every wound of human sorrow belongs to every human hand. We split the atom— but could not heal the heart. We reached the moon— yet left our brothers starved below. We built machines that crossed the heavens, yet failed to carry bread through borders. The tragedy was never power— the tragedy was love postponed. Justice delayed is innocence betrayed. Silence before cruelty is cruelty wearing another face. If I am guilty of silence, then I am responsible for the voice. If I am guilty of neglect, then I must become compassion’s choice. I am responsible — I carry every cry, Beneath the wounded earth, beneath the burning sky. For every soul in sorrow, for every tear untold, I bear the weight of love more precious far than gold. I am responsible — let mercy rise tonight, Let broken hearts remember they were made for light. For every soul is my own kin, every wound my own, My Lord, let love become the law, and mercy be our home.
