Knee Extension Stretch Sitting
In this video I am demonstrating the knee extension stretch. This is great for increasing mobility into extension to help with walking standing, and pain. This is great way to get full range of motion back after surgery. Instructions: 1) Sit at the edge of a chair. Place your foot on a stool, ottoman, or surface about the height of your chair. The back of your knee should be completely free and unrestricted. 2) Hold this position letting gravity slowly straighten the knee without any muscle activity. Your leg should be completely relaxed. Repeat exercise as prescribed by your physical therapist. Tips: -This can be sore and tender but will improve with practice. -When you first take your foot off of the stool after the stretch is complete it will usually be sensitive and may need a minute of time in a bent position before it will want to allow you to stand. -Once you have full knee extension (ask your PT if you are not sure), you will want to stop this exercise.
