A lot of lower back pain is caused from strain and sprain on the tissues surrounding the lower spinal region and over time this can increase the stress and strain placed upon the lumbar discs. If severe enough, you can get a bulging (or herniated lumbar disc) that may cause lower back pain and sciatica nerve pain down your leg. One of the most common sites of injury and disc problems is that of L5 S1, your lower lumbar vertebra and the top part of your sacrum. This stretch is designed to target that area and to decompress the lumbar region thereby reducing the pressure within the spinal discs. This can allow for the bulging material to be reabsorbed back into the spinal disc, and relieve any pressure on pinched nerves, which of course will put the body in a better state to heal and for you to have less pain. This spinal decompression (traction) stretch is safe, effective and does not require any special equipment. You can easily do it in the comfort of your own home, in the office or even in the gym. 00:00 Introduction and background 01:35 Requirements for decompression 03:35 Set up for decompression stretch 06:13 Activating the stretch 07:07 How to amend the stretch 09:15 Conclusion and closing notes Here is a link to the blog article on El Doa: https://bashbackpain.com/enhancing-lumbar-disc-health-with-eldoa-and-myofascial-stretching-mitigating-risks-and-understanding-the-science/ Link to El Doa research: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/357776282_COMPARISON_OF_THE_EFFECTS_OF_DECOMPRESSION_AND_ELDOA_ON_PAIN_AND_DISABILITY_IN_LUMBAR_DISC_PROTRUSION Link to decompression research: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/288855427_Long-term_effect_analysis_of_IDD_therapy_in_low_back_pian_A_retrospective_clinical_pilot_study Need more help with your back pain problems?
