Cutting, landing, sprinting. These sport specific movements are all performed on 1 leg. Athletes that can’t effectively slow their bodies down during movements like these often suffer injuries. We program the lateral step down for many of our athlete’s in their off-season strength training routines. This exercise trains the athlete to effectively absorb the impact of their bodies in a single leg stance. This exercise increases stability, balance, and strength within movement strategies more common in field sports.
