OpenFOAM simulation - Flame spread in a corner 🔥

Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of flame spread in a corner with OpenFOAM 2.2.x and the FireFOAM solver. The scenario is similar to the Single Burning Item (SBI) test used for determining the reaction to fire behaviour of building products. The panels are made of PMMA while the triangular burner at the bottom of the panels has a heat release rate of 30 kW. The simulation is run on a fairly coarse grid size of 2 cm. The video presents the heat release rate per unit volume (HRRPUV) contour at 200 kW/m3 and the temperature of the panels.
