Parables Collide
See Luke 20 regard the Sadducees' parable that Jesus rejects. [verse] So you say you don’t believe in resurrection after death! And then you bring this silly parable… why don’t you save your breath? You take the Scripture and you twist its meaning for your ends And you quote the great Lawgiver as if he’s one of your friends [verse] You say that Moses wrote that if my brother dies without a child That with the thought of bearing kids for him, I should be reconciled That, hypothetically, there’s six of us who take the widow in So whose partner will she be when resurrection life begins? [verse] But I say to you, that people only of this age will wed Those living in the age to come will not share the marriage bed The resurrection-worthy, like the angels, never die God’s children resurrection puts within the apple of His eye [verse] The account of Moses at the bush show the dead, that they arise That he calls the God of Abraham, Isaac, and his son, implies That God’s the God of those who live, and never of the dead That all men are alive to Him… but will cease being wed [verse] The scholars of the church rejoice, and say to Me, “Well said!” “You well refute their heresy… put their arrogance to bed” Of the others, they no longer dare to question what I say Yet their heresies just might survive until the final Day!
