Power Cleans
The power clean — a barbell pulled from the floor to the front rack in one explosive motion, caught in a quarter-squat. The Olympic lift that builds full-body explosive power. ▶ HOW TO PERFORM: Set up like a deadlift with the bar over mid-foot. Pull the bar with intent — drive through the floor, then explode at the hips. As the bar passes the knees, shrug hard and drop into a quarter-squat to catch the bar in the front rack with elbows high. ▶ KEY POINTS: • Drive the floor away first — bar speed comes from the legs, not the arms • Triple extension — ankles, knees, and hips all extend explosively • Catch with elbows up — front rack discipline keeps the bar safe and on-track ▶ COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID: Pulling with the arms instead of driving with the legs caps your weight and is hard on the elbows. Catching with low elbows dumps the bar onto the wrists — elbows up the moment the bar reaches the rack. This is a silent form demo.
