Inspired by Psalm 33. Rhyming and sung in a big band style. For those that would like to have the lyrics I used I have them copied below: Shout for joy in the Lord, O righteous ones, rejoice! For praise from upright hearts is fitting in its voice. Give thanks unto the Lord upon the lyre you bring; Make melody to Him upon the harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song, let skillful music start; Play loudly, shout with joy, from fullness of the heart. For upright is the word the Lord has clearly shown, And all His work is done in faithfulness alone. He loves all righteousness and justice without end; The earth is full of love His steadfast mercies send. By His own word the heavens were made at His command, By breath of His own mouth their host in order stand. He gathers up the seas as though they heaped would be; He stores away the depths in chambers of the sea. Let all the earth now fear the Lord in reverent awe; Let all the world stand still, struck silent by His law. For He but spoke the word, and all to being came; He gave command, and firm and fast it all became. The Lord brings nations’ plans and counsels all to naught; The schemes of many peoples quickly are distraught. But counsel of the Lord stands firm as the sage; The plans within His heart endure from age to age. Blessed the nation whose true God is the Lord above; The people He has chosen as His own to love. The Lord looks down from heaven’s height on all mankind; He sees the sons of men, no one escapes His mind. From where He sits enthroned He watches all the earth; All those who dwell below, of every land and birth. He fashions all their hearts, each one by His design; He understands their deeds, and sees each hidden sign. The king is not preserved by armies vast and strong; A warrior’s great might cannot sustain him long. The war horse gives false hope, salvation it denies; Its strength cannot deliver, though mighty in men’s eyes. Behold, the eye of God is on those who Him fear; On those who hope within His steadfast love so dear. That He may rescue them from death’s approaching hand, And keep them yet alive in famine through the land. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and shield; In Him our hearts rejoice, to Him our trust we yield. Because we trust His name, so holy and so sure; Our hearts are glad in Him, His promise shall endure. Let, Lord, Your steadfast love upon us ever be, According as we hope and place our trust in Thee.
