Redshift 2 Houdini - #22 - SpeedTree Importer For Redshift - Quick Tip
Hey guys! This is a quick tip video showing this awesome new SpeedTree Importer script for Houdini and Redshift developed by Dominik Lingenover using Python. I helped test the tool out and provide feedback and we feel it is now ready to release to the public. I will link to his Gumroad post below. The tool is free but if you feel like donating feel free. This is a great time saving tool for people working with SpeedTree assets in Houdini and Redshift. *For people having issues with Alembic files* Make sure your Alembic Export is using HDF5 for the format, unfortunately, there is a SpeedTree bug still where Ogawa format Alembic files don't work if the Alembic file is over 2gb. (You can re-export the HDF5 as Ogawa using Houdini's Alembic ROP, Ogawa has smaller file sizes and better performance but SpeedTrees Ogawa export over 2gb is bugged.) Also check the "Group by" you have it set to "Material" not "Hierarchy" or "Geometry Type". Also make sure your textures are in the same folder or a subfolder of the geometry object and don't include multiple tree texture subdirectories or it will cause a conflict. *Updated On 03/08/20* Github Link to the Tool : https://github.com/DominikLingenover/DMNK-Tools Patreon Page Link to Tool: https://www.patreon.com/posts/31312028 Thanks again everyone for all the support on my Patreon and Youtube channel.
