SEQUEL Kludge - Postgame boss #8
Ver. 1.00 Alright, the final base postgame boss of Kludge is here. Unlike similar bosses in the other SEQUEL games, this one runs on a time limit of 30 turns. Ordinarily, the time limit wouldn't be such a big issue if it wasn't for the boss' invincibility gimmick that virtually limits you to only attack at 3 separate points in the fight. There's only so many turns as to when the boss becomes vulnerable, which can hold back many setups that deal protracted but consistent damage. Thus, just like most of the other bosses featured here, the boss is handled by the ridiculous damage output from Yorunaya. The crux of the strategy relies on having burst turns with the 500 power axe skill combined with buffs and charging. With the setup shown in the video, it is crucial that at least one of the burst turns results in a critical or else the damage won't be enough to take down the boss by the time limit. For the boss' attacks, they're very gimmicky and unforgiving assuming you don't take the proper protections against them. I'll detail the 7-turn pattern below along with the secondary effects of each attack. Turn 1: Single-target stasis inflicting attack (target won't be able to take any actions until ailment wears off, on the upside the target cannot be hit by any attacks, also boss drains SP) Turn 2: Single-target dark element attack with splash damage (each of the attacks inflicts stun) (all attacks can be Incited) Turn 3: AoE attack seemingly without element (guaranteed to critical and pierces through defenses such as defense buffs and Barrier but does not go through the Defend command) Turn 4: Single-target ice magic attack (Inflicts MaxHp Down and drains HP) (can be Incited) Turn 5: AoE ice magic attack (Inflicts AGI Down and Luck Down as well as Blind and Forgetfulness) Turn 6: Single-target ice magic attack (Inflicts MaxHp Down and drains HP) (can be Incited) Turn 7 (Combo attack): Single-target magic attack inflicting Paralysis - Single-target dark element attack with splash damage (each of the attacks inflicts stun) (all attacks can be Incited) With all the gimmicks behind these attacks, there only so much you can take before RNG screws up your attempt unless you build for these things specifically beforehand. Thus, the build shown in the video at least tries to cover as many attacks as possible given the levels, equipment, and skills allowed. For the stasis attack, the first turn is random since the hope is that the attack doesn't hit Lusika who will set up the party's subsequent buffs later on. It can't hit Yubeil due to the armor removing aggro for the party member, so if the attack hits Dita or Yorunaya, the attempt can proceed. All subsequent stasis attacks are then dealt with using bind. The second attack can covered by using Incite and Defend from Yubeil. For the third, using the Defend command is a must as well as having at least 2,600 HP to survive both hits. Fourth attack can also be incited by Yubeil and is neutered with the Ribbon accessory. Now for the fifth attack, Barriers are set up the turn before to mitigate the damage and Lusika uses a 50 TP skill to nullify all ailments for that turn. To deal with the stat debuffs, the corresponding item is used. Sixth attack is the same as the fourth attack, and finally the seventh attack is handled by Yubeil using the complete invincibility skill or defending. The last thing to mention about the pattern is that when the boss falls below 40% or 30% HP, they will start inserting the combo attack randomly into the single-target turns. To counter this, Yubeil still incites and tanks the attacks thrown at her, then heals from the HP regen. All in all, this boss was really gimmicky and necessitated preparation using the equipment from the other postgame bosses. However, because Yorunaya's damage output is so obscene, it's probably possible to do this at an even lower level, probably around 51 since that enables you to get charge and the 500 power axe skill together. I'm personally not a fan of another time limit boss being thrown into the mix, but what can you do when it's been the trend anyways for the past few games. P.S. What is even going on at this point? I'm guessing that this whole scenario is a tribute to one of Hakika's old games, but I'm also a lot more confused about what that special CG is supposed to reference.
