Slice | Post Race Visit & What's Next 🏇
Stopped by the Santa Anita backstretch this morning to check in on Miss Slice following her second career start on May 2nd — and she was doing exactly what she does best. Chilling in her stall, completely unbothered, happy and relaxed. That's a horse that came out of her race just fine. As Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners noted in their weekly newsletter, Slice continued her education with another sprint on Saturday May 2nd, again showing signs that added distance will be key. With two starts now under her belt, connections can confidently look toward stretching her out — where she has always projected to excel. Jockey Emisael Jaramillo told us after her debut back on March 20th — *"we have something here, she wants a mile."* Two starts later, every single person in the McCarthy barn and at Eclipse still believes exactly that. The sprints were the education. The route of ground is the destination. The plan is now clear — stretch her out to two turns, give her the distance she's been asking for, and let her run her race the way she's bred and built to do it. We're eyeing options in the Book 8 condition book covering races from May 29th onward, with an exciting summer at Del Mar on the horizon. 🌊 The best chapter of Slice's story hasn't been written yet. Stay tuned. Believe Big! 🏇
