Sting and Victory

This one is for Dan Dan! I know you’re rejoicing with the King! When I was a young boy, I would play in a large empty field near our house. I had a bow and two arrows that I named Victory and Sting. I would run around in that field shooting Victory and Sting and quoting the verse from 1 Corinthians 15 verse 55 “Oh death, where is your sting? Oh, grave where is your victory?” Little did I know then that I would be writing this song now, but God knows our purpose and was preparing me at a young age. I write this song with both a heavy and joyful heart knowing my stepfather Dan has left his earthly body and taking on a heavenly one. In 1 Corinthians 15 we read about this flesh being corruptible, but the Spirit is incorruptible. We will all shed our mortal earthly corrupted bodies and take on incorruptible heavenly immortal Spirit that lives forever in the presence of God our heavenly Creator. The grave is swallowed up in Victory and Death will forever lose its hold over us. 1 Corinthians 15:50 – 56. (KJV) 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
