The first strength workout in the Muscle & Mat Mover series focuses on the back. Why? Because you probably don't! But don't feel too bad about it. A lot of us neglect our backs because, well, we can't see it! But as I told a friend of mine who works only on his pecs, bis, and shoulders to look more buff for the ladies, "They see you coming, but they also see you walk away." That's not to say that we should work on our backs out of vanity, but I'm also not knocking that goal, because it's a valid one. But the reality is that if you ignore your back, you're probably going to be reminded of it some day (in that OMG-I-can't-move-I've-thrown-my-back-out kind of way). Have a few sets of weights handy, but if you're an absolute beginner to working out, you may want to use no weights at first so that you can focus on your core engagement and back alignment (feel like your belly button is being pulled towards your spine, and your back muscles are strong to hold your spine straight).
