It’s been three months since this piece was completed. Most mornings I stare at it while I drink my coffee. When I do I’m unaware of the time.
“Three” has been accurately ticking away since its completion in January. I’ve grown to love the familiar, one second tick-tock of a traditional dead-beat escapement. Simple, reliable, and perfect.
I enjoyed shooting the last video of this piece. The one with the shadow of the drapes drifting over the surface of the clock and the wall behind. The lighting was very natural, and I’m happy I shot one that way. But I wanted to shoot another one in my usual theatrical style. I’ve used this technique before, and it always gives me some beautiful and dramatic shots.
