HIGHER EVERYDAY WEDNESDAY APRIL 22, 2026 GOD FIRST TEXT: LUKE 14:26-33 MEMORY VERSE: "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple" (LUKE 14:26). The things we prioritize shape our lives. If we put anything above God, we will eventually fail. Jesus commands us to love one another, yet He also says, "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children...he cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:26). This doesn't mean we should literally hate people, but that our love for Christ must be greater than the love for any other person. True discipleship is intentional. Jesus said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (Luke 9:23). No one stumbles into heaven by accident, it requires commitment and daily surrender. Following Christ may mean rejecting worldly desires, sacrificing personal ambitions, or even enduring rejection from loved ones. What competes with Christ in your life - relationship, ambition, or comfort? Make it a habit to examine your walk with Him. Heaven is for those who intentionally choose to follow Jesus every day.
