#lowkey session 03 : Fazz

Colours and chemistry. Two words that come to mind when watching Fazz do their thing live. Their music don't just reflect the members' interactions with each other, but also their song writing process. Taking lead from how jam-friendly their music can be, we asked about how they work off of each other. Plenty of ideas (and fights) were the answers. And that is evident in their songs and performance. Life of Circus is pretty much what the title says - a whimsical number with multiple musical ideas and melodies tightly crafted across purposeful sections, it is a pleasing listen that is as cheeky and catchy as it is dramatic and mysterious. Soon's atmospheric intro is a beautiful buildup full of tension that is subverted with some delightful singing in the pre-chorus and chorus, before revisiting the early tension in a gorgeous bridge. Cosmos' synth intro breaks into a dancey tune that is an immediate throwback to great 80s pop with its vocal effects and samples, something which the band relishes as they bounce and move along while showcasing their collective musical prowess. Fazz is different. You don't get bands like them often, nor easily. They understand the drama that comes with music, and their infectious chemistry - clearly on display throughout the recording via their banter - is the bedrock that brings out their adventurous best through creative compositions that are full of story, theatre, and life. Memorable might seem an overused description, but Fazz deserves every single moment of fondness they get from those fortunate enough to experience them, especially live.
