#lowkey session 07 : Wobbebong

Hanna's "Ready, let's go!" at the end of Six Feet Under's intro is one of the cute moments of Wave 1. As a matter of fact, it won't be an exaggeration to say that half of all the cute moments across all 20 Wave 1 bands came from Aisya and Hanna being their candid selves. The geekish manner of how they go about their songs is endearing and charming, much like their music. But its isn't the reason why their low-key session is one of our most memorable one yet. Wobbebong is a precociously talented duo that are as self-conscious about their music and craft as they are great at it. Their music is adventurous, their sound fresh, and their personas infectious. It can be easy to pigeonhole them based on their appearances, but their looks belie their experiences - Hanna is formerly of Juno and Hanna while Aisya was from Jetcetera. Wobbebong is them combining the best of their experiences and strenghts to come up with crafty tunes full of layers, meaning, and heart like Sleepy House and Six Feet Under. Like Motherwit, Wobbebong was a reaffirmation of low-key sessions. Their recording session was one of our longest, as they were both unprepared to deal with our setup. This was a learning experience for us as much as it was for them, and our reward was them performing a new song that hadn't even been titled nor performed live elsewhere at the point. Wobbebong's session is rewatchable for many reasons - Hanna hugging Aisya to congratulate her after finishing a song, Aisya waiting for the beat to drop before bobbing along with Hanna, or simply how their creative instrumentation and productions choices hide their knack for coming up with catchy hooks and melodies that you wish can be bottled up and picked up from a shelf.
