A.Limin was one of our toughest sessions. It was long and complicated. We faced numerous tecnical issues, ranging from the intricate (both Limin and Mirul' effects and sound) to the basic (dead cables and not enough plug extensions). It drained everyone considerably, which can be noticed at certain points in the recording. We wished we could do more. While the whole experience highlighted some of our inherent limitations, it also underlined A.Limin's growing reputation as the next band to carry the torch for local (independent) music. If you are not familiar with their music, start now. Keen observers and loyal followers of the local independent music scene will point out that the scene has witnessed some iconic guitar duos over the last 25 years. Loque and Emmet. Duan and Ham. Noh and AG. These are but a few of the more popular pairs that are so recognizable that they have become synonymous with their respective bands. Each of these pairs have their dynamics, and while some of them share plenty musical duties, there were clear roles within each pair, defined by their respective strengths. Loque's riffs with Emmet's voice. Duan's lyrics and Ham's effects. Noh's songwriting and AG's arrangements. Maybe from now on, we will have Limin and Mirul. And they might just be the best one yet. Throughout A.Limin's sessions, you will see both Limin and Mirul comfortably share singing duties, either singing their own songs or those written by the other. They are both consummate frontmen, handling lead and rhythm guitars interchangeably while also comfortable taking the back seat. They are also dedicated and professional multi-instrumentalists, providing a lot of technical support when we struggled during the setup. These qualities make them a dream for local music organizers, but it is just the bedrock for their greatest asset - songwriting. A.Limin writes and produces some of the best music the local independent music scene has heard in the last 10 years. Angin is a masterclass in song structure - no two parts are the same, and each (part) leads into the next like chapters of a story that you don't want to end, rich with licks and riffs that embellish a soul-reaching hook. The studio version is a definitive listen. The bonus mashup of Kerala and Tidur Atas Gelisah is an insight to the band's more adventurous musical choices, showing off their McCartney-Lennon-esque double act. The highlight of the session was easily Kau Ada. How they came up with that genius of a chorus and bridge we'll never know, but for some, the song might just be the closest we are yet to our own Radiohead. And Limin half-mumbling, half-scatting the second verse of the chorus is just one of those things that you shake your head in disbelief and smile proudly to. There are layers to A.Limin, and we pray hard that they get all the time in the world to share it all with us. Setlist: Angin Kerala / Tidur Atas Gelisah Kau Ada Recorded on 22-06-2022 @aliminband #lowkeysessions #RAImuzikkita #RAIarts #RAIartsMY
