Reverse Scoring Likert-Type Numeric Responses in Sheets
Part of a series on preparing Google Forms survey data for analysis in Jamovi. This video provides a step-by-step guide to reverse scoring survey items in Google Sheets, using a depression scale as an example. The reverse scoring calculation works by adding the minimum and maximum possible response values (e.g., 1 + 5 = 6) and subtracting each participant's response. When you are done cleaning your data, download your Google Sheet to a .CSV by going to File -- Download -- Comma Separated Values (.csv). DO NOT USE EXCEL. Then open your .CSV file in jamovi: https://youtu.be/putvHX5HGmw. You will create total scores in jamovi, unless you are categorizing data with subscale means and IF statements.
