To add a sparkling briolette edging you will need: Briolettes Seed beads Ruler Marking pencil - I used a Bohin chalk pencil Fine sewing thread Finishing needle of your choice: I like a #10 milliner's for a soft edge pillow finish, and a curved beading needle for a hard edge finish Scissors - I'm using the Golden Forge large handled scissors with engraved blades Kits for Cardinal Kin, shown here, are available at katie-strachan.com/shop Full details on my conversion for Fox & Rabbit Elizabeth Cheavins are in episode 85: https://youtu.be/2PYVaJU_Cow And I used 6mm briolettes, color light rose, with 15/0 light ceylon pink transparent seed beads, and Soie 100/3 217 to stitch them on Prairie Schooler Santa's Night used 4mm briolettes, color crystal, and full details are in the description for episode 38: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fgiKX8vEnI Blackbird Christmas Garden (single motif stitched and finished as a large ornament) used 6mm briolettes, color Crystal Golden Shadow, full details in episode 10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_eQpewZrzE Stacy Nash Goode Witch pinkeep used a 6mm roundelle in a discontinued color, full details in episode 59: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylH2VeoIBgM You can find briolettes in all colors and sizes at Artbeads, although I recommend 4 or 6mm briolettes for cross stitch: https://artbeads.com/prestige-article-5040-briolette/ Roundelles are also available in limited colors: https://artbeads.com/prestige-article-5305-roundelle-symmetrical/ Both Artbeads and Caravan Beads also carry seed beads - I recommend Toho or Miyuki size 15 seed beads for use with either a 4 or 6mm briolette The basics on beads and crystals: colors, sizes, finishes, etc are covered in the beginning of my beaded spiral rope trim tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?index=4&list=PLiDWYTP60Tccq-ISmKcqHvrhxcQ76ft5k&t=7s&v=BgQMzVs3wPk I usually space briolettes 1/2" apart along the edge of the finish, although in this tutorial I tried a longer spacing of 3/4" with the larger 6mm briolettes and liked the look. To calculate supplies needed, you must know the full exterior edge of your finish, and how you intend to space your briolettes. For example, a 5" round with a circumference of 15.7, using 4mm briolettes spaced 1/2" apart (fudging at the end to cover that extra .2) would require 31 briolettes, and 31 seed beads.
