WITH THIS RING

There is something about weddings. The one thing I’ve noticed about weddings is you never see unhappiness, you never see sadness, there are always smiles and joy. It is one of the greatest celebrations of life that we will have in our lifetime. When I began writing “With this Ring”, I was inspired by the real meaning of marriage, as if in the master plan of creation we were never meant to be alone. And there is a space in each of our souls that needs the life and the love of another for it to be complete. The Italian writer and film director Luciano De Crescenzo once said, “We are each angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another. When we love…we complete each other. That is the beauty and wonder of what it means to be human and to be in love. I wanted this song to capture love and marriage in all its diverse, magnificent wonder. And no matter how different each wedding, each relationship, each marriage is…there is nothing more beautiful in life than to see the moment when two hearts become one, when two angels each with only one wing, embrace and take to the sky. And maybe that’s what love is really all about. By the way the young lady in the last frame looking back at the camera is my daughter on her wedding day.
